Konica Minolta invests in Augmented Reality Pioneer Wikitude

Wikitude GmbH, renowned pioneer of augmented reality (AR) technology, announced today that it has secured a 7-digit Euro investment from Konica Minolta Inc, a leading service provider for IT and document processes.

The partnership will not only enable Wikitude access to Konica Minolta’s global customer base and sales channels, but will be the kick-off for joint developments of new technology solutions in fields such as the “digital workspace”.

Both Wikitude’s core positioning in the AR market and its strategic approach will remain unaffected by the partnership. Austrian lead-investor GCP Camma Capital Partners (GCP) remains largest shareholder and lead investor.

„When a multinational company like Konica Minolta engages in a partnership dedicated to augmented reality, the possibilities are enormous. While we at Wikitude will provide our award-winning technology, expertise and vision, it will be Konica Minolta’s market presence and business network to mark the next milestone on our mission to augment the enterprise world. “, Martin Herdina, CEO of Wikitude says.

„This strategic partnership is a great proof of the company’s leading role in the augmented reality space and a real win-win situation for both parties.” Paul Weinberger, Chairman of the board at Wikitude and Venture Partner with GCP, adds.
