Burkhard has over 20 years experience in investment and project finance, over 10 years of which in Venture Capital, both as direct and fund investor. Prior to GCP, he was Managing Director of Vienna-based tech-VC Invest Equity early stage; during the 1990 he initiated and implemented the government-sponsored capital guarantee scheme (AWS) that helped kick-start the Austrian VC industry. Further, Burkhard has operative experience as a turn-around manager and in manufacturing industry.

Burkhard is a keen cross-cyclist (both moto-cross and mountainbiking) and enjoys a range of outdoor pursuits with his family and his dog.
